Travis Kalanick was the one to take Uber from a seed of an idea for a car service, and to craft it into the most valuable private technology “startup”. has the soul of the business in him and Uber was crafted in his form. Uber was not the first company to try to build a transportation network on demand. It was thanks to Kalanick though that Uber got it right. Kalanick is now the co-founder of the peer-to-peer file sharing company Red Swoosh and former CEO of transportation network company Uber. In 2014, he entered the Forbes list of the 400 richest Americans at position 190, with an estimated net worth of US$6.3 billion. In June 2017, he was forced to resign as the CEO of Uber amidst mounting allegations of workplace culture and sexual harassment rampant at Uber, which he was accused of having done little to stop.
